Morals and Behavior of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Employees
We ask that all employees of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. conduct themselves proactively as members of our organization under the principle that they take responsibility for their own actions. Our goal is to create a corporate climate in which debate can be conducted in a free and generous spirit.
Standards of Conduct for Employees
- Always be aware that you are a member and representative of the company and of society at large, and conduct yourself at all times with fairness and honesty
- Be on the lookout at all times for constructive ways to upgrade your own qualities in your job and to improve the quality of the company as a whole
- Follow all company instructions, abide by all laws and regulations, and strive at all times to improve your ethical awareness
- Respect human rights and the individuality of others, avoiding any conduct that might be considered discriminatory or construed as harassment
- Always maintain sound and appropriate relationships with government agencies, regulators, and people from the medical professions and companies with which we do business
- Engage freely in competitive activities in a fair and transparent manner
- Be resolute in your attitude toward all anti-social forces and never respond as an individual to any demands for inappropriate or illegal conduct
- Maintain a clear distinction between your business activities and your personal activities and never engage in any conduct that might be inappropriate or detrimental to the interests of the company
- Endeavor at all times to further the development of the relationship of trust between the company and society at large

A) Conduct as a Corporate Citizen
- Maintain open communication with our shareholders and all sectors of society, actively disclosing corporate information in a fair and equitable manner, in full awareness of our role as a pharmaceutical company
- Acknowledge it is our natural duty to be committed to dealing with environmental problems, that to work actively and autonomously for the betterment of the environment
- Contribute actively to society as a good corporate citizen
- Be firm against any anti-social groups or forces that threaten the order or stability of civil society
B) Activities as a Corporation Engaged in the Health Field
- Actively engage in the research and development of pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals that contribute to improved health for people the world over and ensure a stable supply of high-quality products
- Conduct research and development with the cooperation of medical institutions, to the strictest scientific standards and with full respect for the rights of all trial participants and maximum possible safety
- Promptly report, gather, evaluate and disseminate scientifically supported information from sources both in Japan and overseas regarding the quality, effectiveness and safety of all products, to ensure the most appropriate use of all products
- Compete fairly and transparently within the market economy and maintain sound and fair relationships with all contacts in politics, regulatory bodies, the medical professions and companies with which we do business
- Contribute through the research and development of pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals to the greater efficiency of medical expenditure and the more efficient use of medical and health resources
- Nurture and constantly work to improve an appropriate ethical perspective among employees in keeping with our role as a pharmaceutical company
- Conduct ourselves in all overseas activities in a way that respects local culture and customs and contributes to local development
- Respect the rights and abilities of all employees and maintain a working environment that is permeated by a sense of mission
