NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (March 5, 2008) – Pharmavite, manufacturer of Nature Made® vitamins, minerals, herbs and dietary supplements and SOYJOY™ nutrition bars, announced today the appointment of James R. Brooks, Ph.D., to vice president, Science and Technology, effective immediately. In this position, Dr. Brooks will lead the Science and Technology organization in delivering both strategic and operational goals. He will also be a member of Pharmavite’s Leadership Team and will report to Connie Barry, president and CEO.

Prior to joining Pharmavite, Dr. Brooks served as the head of research and product development for Bolthouse Farms, a privately held company that sells retail beverages, juice concentrates, fiber and fresh produce. He has also held research and development and senior scientific positions with Syngenta in the Netherlands, Campbell Soup Company, Nestle, and Abbott Laboratories. He also served as assistant professor in the Food Science Department at the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Brooks holds a bachelor of science in Food Science from Ohio State University, a master of science in Animal and Food Industries from Clemson University and a doctorate in Plant Physiology, also from Clemson University. He serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Clemson University. Dr. Books has served as an invited lecturer/presenter at numerous scientific conferences across the globe and is the author of 16 peer-reviewed articles.
